In the older version, the Create Template button was on the top right corner of the Inventory Template page. But for easier access, the Create Tempalte button has been moved to the left of the inventory template list.
Earlier, when you have to edit a template, you had to click on the edit link, which is at the left of the template name. Now, you can choose to edit the template at two instances. You can either click on the edit link that appears when you hover the mouse over the template name or you can click on the edit button that is present on the preview page.
In the older version, when you had to preview the template, you will be taken to the View Inventory Template page. But you may want to preview many templates one after another to check them. In the new version, when you click on a template to preview it, you can view it on the right of the list view page after which you can see if any changes have to be made.
In the older version to delete a template, you had to click on the delete link that is on the left of the template name. But now you can even delete multiple templates at once by selecting them and clicking on the delete link that appears on top of the list view
In the older version, to create a folder all you had to do was click on the Create Folder button. But in the new version, in order to make the managing of folders easier, you can create a folder when you create a new template or when you want to move templates. This helps you in reducing the amount of junk folders being created.
In the older version, in order to share the template folder you had to click on the edit link that appears next to the folder's name and make appropriate changes. But now, you can share the folder by clicking on the more button that appears next to the template folder's name in the list, click on share and make the appropriate changes.
In order to delete the folder, the folder should be empty. SO before deleting the folder the templates in the folder must be moved or deleted. In the older version,to delete the folder you had to click on the delete link that is to the left of the folder's name. In the new version, to delete the folder click on the more button next to the folder's name in the list of folders and click delete.
You now have Signature and User Role as merge field. This lets you add them wherever you want rather than at having them always at the end.
Now, you can create folders only when you save a template or move templates. This lets you prevent the creation of junk folders, giving you easier access to relevant templates.
In the older version, you had the option of setting a template as default. But in the newer version, instead of setting a template as default, you can mark it as a favorite so that you can access it easily.
Here's a list of what new features have been added to inventory templates to make your experience much better.
Earlier, you can only view basic details about the template. Now, you can keep track of who has modified the template right on the list view page. You can also view templates based on when they were last used giving you insight on which templates are used the most.
Earlier templates were automatically arranged alphabetically after creation and you if you want templates to appear at the top of the list where you select them you had to mark them as favorite. You can now mark templates as favorite making them appear at the top of the list, to give you easy access to the templates that you use the most.
Earlier the sorting was alphabetical by default. Now, you have the option of sorting your templates based on Last Used Time and Last Modified Time making it easier for you to access your template based on your needs.
You can not only sort templates, you filter them on the bases of the modules, making it easier for you to view templates created for that particular module.
To make it easier for you to access templates in folders, you now have the option of reordering folders that you have created. This lets you bring the important folders to the top, letting you access those templates with ease.
